Welcome!
A few words about the sermons listed above...
1) This is
“verbal” language placed on paper. If I were to write the same
content for a magazine or newsletter, it would be written very
differently. So, as a result you will see unusual spaces, dashes,
underlining, misspellings (“gonna” in stead of “going to”), etc.. So as
you read this, please try to imagine my Sunday morning speaking
mannerisms, tone, and gestures – this is a verbally delivered sermon, not
a theological term paper.
2) I am
not an English major. If you are, then I’m going to
apologize ahead of time and ask for grace, hoping you will focus on the
content rather than the sentence structures, spelling, etc.. I
guarantee you will see mistakes! (Ex: I am notorious for dropping the “r”
of the word “your” – grin and bear it, please!)
3) I am an
unashamed plagiarizer for Christ! That is, I steal ideas, examples,
illustrations, inspiration, from every professor, author, preacher,
teacher, and theologian I can find! Truth is truth – my job is to pass it
on! (Hey, I claim to know nothing of value on my own other than what God
has taught me through others). I share what I find with my congregation,
but I have no intention of taking valuable time to write up my sources,
(bibliography etc..). If you want to know where that quote came from –
call me! If I remember, I’ll be glad to pass it on.
So… whatever
you do, NEVER assume anything you read here is a
Chuck Bailey original quote, nor give me the credit! My strength is in
“arranging” the scriptural thoughts of greater men and women that were
inspired by God and who were specifically given the spiritual gifts of
wisdom. Consider me nothing more than a conduit that passes that
wisdom on, (hopefully in a form that speaks to where my particular
congregation is in terms of their specific needs, life experiences,
culture, etc…)
4) Don’t
forget, I accompany myself with Power Point Presentations on Sunday
morning that are flashed up on the sanctuary wall. If in my sermon, I
make a reference to a picture – you will know why! (Sorry, the Power
Point Presentations are not available at this time.) You’ll have to use
your imagination!
5) I pray
that no one will accept this message blindly without
carefully checking it out! Read the scriptures! Study the word!
Pray, pray, pray!!! Christ the Great Shepherd does call us to be “sheep”
of his flock, but not “dumb sheep” who will blindly buy anything anyone
will tell them! I trust the Holy Spirit will back up what I preach or I
wouldn’t preach it! But in terms of scriptural perfection – forget it!
Ok, I know more than some, and less than others – and I am
learning more and more each day! Never-the-less: Test the sermon’s
content carefully! Ask questions! Turn it inside out, stir it up, shake
it down – if God’s truth is in this sermon, it will rise to the top!
6) Some
times, after the last sermon page is over, you’ll find the
“Confessional Prayer”, and the “Opening Prayer” for your
consideration too. These are used in the 11:00 Sunday “Celebration
Service” only. Feel free to use them as a stepping stone into your own
prayers.
7) NEVER,
I repeat, NEVER use this website’s sermon page as a
substitute for real corporate worship! God makes it very clear in
the scriptures He desires you and I to worship Him together as a committed
family. He deserves your worship, and your church family deserves your
prayers, presence, and support also! My intent for printing these sermons
on the website is to allow those who were sick, out-of-town, working,
etc.. to stay up-to-date with what has been preached at ASLC. It is also
for people who want a copy of the sermon to pass on to a
friend, neighbor, or loved one, and for further personal devotions
throughout the week.
8) If my church family has questions about anything
in this sermon, please call me at 253-852-4884!!! Always happy to talk
about our Lord and Savior!
